Sources
Journeys uses maps, data, and images from different collections and sources, and we’re adding more all the time. When you roll your mouse over an item in our data menu you can see a summary of the collection or organisation that it comes from. This is also known as a citation.
In this section of the site you can see what the abbreviations in the citations mean, and trace them back to their sources. All the content that gets uploaded to the site needs to be properly cited so that other researchers can easily go back to the original source if they need to, and so that everyone can learn more about the records and data displayed on this site. And there’s another reason…
Copyright
For Journeys to work, all the material uploaded needs to be free of copyright constraints, or be approved by the source institution for use. For more information about copyright see the Australian Copyright Council online.
